What We Do.
Many think the professional interior designers just address choices of furnishings, window + wall coverings...and we do. But our design team brings much more to the construction site. Experienced designers assist the Client in specifying endless interior construction details such as the location of lighting fixtures + choices of plumbing fixtures, hardware + counters and layouts of cabinetry for the kitchen + bathrooms. The role that our design professionals play is also to ensure that details are not lost between the studs + the sawdust.
So unless the Client, builder or architect plans to fully coordinate all the minute details with the design specifications, important design elements such as the exact location of an floor outlet in the middle of a space will surely be forgotten. (That's one story we hear too often + too late + with costly consequences for the Client.)

What Else We Do.
Sometimes construction on a job site seems to come to a stand still. Delays in schedules begin to take their toll. So knowing how to keep the ball rolling again is both skill + art + diplomacy. So we are often asked to perform other vital roles such as project manager, quality control supervisor + even problem solver during the four building phases. In certain situations, our designers may even act as client representative, communications director + arbitration advisor if it helps move the project foward.
We know construction from the ground up. So whether planning a new residential or commercial building, consider that hiring a design professional may just be in the best interest of the project, saving not only construction time and needless change orders but avoiding costly mistakes that allow projects to drag on, slow the completion process + increase Client costs.
One project in Indian Wells, CA was the perfect example of working with a plan and having a compatible team to coordinates the numerous items. The clients purchased the home after quickly selling their home + needed to move into their new place in just a few weeks. As their design firm, we made choices + selections not only based on their time frame but also ones that would still convey the style + statement they wanted. From the beginning, team meetings that included the client each week determined the "at the moment" priorities which greatly assisted with making the 8 week deadline. It was hectic at times. None-the-less, we moved the furnishings, art and the client into their new home right under the wire. They were please and so were the trades that worked hard to see it come together.
