Michael A. Thomas, FASID is a seasoned, accomplished interior designer with a special interest in creating living and work environments that are functional, practical and uncomplicated with 35 years of design expertise + knowledge to his projects. His design philosophy has been described, at least by one client as "clean, modern, classic, unpretentious + ever so understated," and with a design style is just as varied as the clients he works for.
Michael strives to ensure that both function + aesthetics are blended and complimentary to both architecture + site. Clients have provided him opportunities to design projects all over the country, from Houston to Chicago, Providence to San Diego, Miami to Philadelphia. He has been quoted and his interior design work published in various media including Time Magazine, Dwell, Houston Chronicle, Palm Beach Post, The Miami Herald + a feature profile and cover on Interiors & Sources Magazine. Michael has passed the National Council For Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam and is a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers ( ASID ). He has been an active volunteer for ASID as volunteer, speaker, council chairs and national board director with financial oversight. In 2004, he was inducted into ASID's College of Fellows, the highest award the Society gives one of its members. Elected by his peers, Michael now serves as the ASID's National President. Michael is the co-author of Residential Design For Aging In Place, the first to address the accessible design of homes for some 76 million baby boomers. And as much as passion drives his design projects, Michael also shares his passion for design as workshop instructor and lecturer. He is a well-known speaker in the design community including a multi-year participant in the ASID Distinguished Speakers Series and has taught over 200 workshops + seminars all over the country for interior designers, builders + architects on such topics as universal design, business principles and practices contracts + fees, and social media marketing. Michael co-authored a continuing education course entitled "Ethics and All That Jazz" which won a Special Service Award from Associations Advance America for its most unique presentation methods and relevant content. |
