No matter our heritage, culture or beliefs, or where we live in the world, there is one thing we all have in common with each other.

WE ALL GROW OLDER.

But that doesn't mean that we have to make sacrifices in how we live. And while growing older may present challenges, there are also opportunities.

With aging in place planning and appropriate age-in-place design, homes can help us maintain a life style that supports us, comforts us in times of need while giving us the choice to choose where + how to live.

SO IS THAT WHAT AGING IN PLACE IS ALL ABOUT?

Yes & No.  Aging-in-place is much more than the obvious use of grab bars or how I like to put it, balance bars that help give us balance in the bathroom. Aging-in-place is about design details and the process to create home and work places that will span a lifetime, spaces that remain flexible to the needs of its occupants while emphasizing maximum mobility. It’s about healthy places to heal when those times come.

Its also about creating homes that look like homes, not institutions, ones in which the aging in place design details remain transparent to the untrained eye. It also means giving each the opportunity to keep a measure of independence for as long as possible.... to make our own decisions, and determine the best avenues for maintaining a high quality of life.  Working with a trained aging in place interior design specialist can make all this attainable.
