Our
interiors group was founded by Michael A. Thomas in the
fall of 1995 after working as Vice President + Director
of Design for two south Florida interior design firms.
As President + Design Principle, he brings over 35 years
of design expertise + knowledge to the DCG business venture.
Michael holds memberships in the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the American
Society of Interior Designers(ASID) + the
National Kitchen + Bath Association
(NKBA). His work has been published
in numerous magazines + papers including Florida
Home + Garden, Palm
Beach Illustrated, Palm
Beach Post,
Miami
Herald + ASID's
Icon Magazine. Michael
is a Certified Aging In Place Specialist(CAPS)
and was awarded the highest award to a member from ASID
as a Fellow of the organization. He is currently
serving as National President-Elect
of ASID, moving in
the President’s position at the fall of 2010.
Michael's Passion Includes
Sharing His Knowledge With The Design Community
As much as passion
drives his design projects, Michael also shares his passion
for design as a continuing education instructor. He has taught
over 300 workshops + seminars all over the country for interior
designers + architects as a part of the continuing education
courses required of design professionals. In the fall of
2008, Michael’s first book on the topic of aging-in-place
was published by John Wiley+ Company. After some two years
of research and writing, the book, Residential
Design For Aging In Place s the first
to address the accessible design of homes + house for some
76 million baby boomers, many who are just now entering
the first years of retirement. Michael has started his
second book, Design Business Matters - A Practical Guide
To The Business Of Design.
